Mango Double Compartment Bag

Mango Double Compartment Bag

When on holiday I like to have smaller more secure bag with me so I know my possessions are safe, so for me a cross body bag is perfect because you can wear it many ways and it’s always next to your body at all times.

This is the Mango Double Compartment Bag (which is included in the sale!) this bag has two zip compartments with gold zip detailing and a very different but interesting strap detailing. The adjustable strap, it has a gold bar that you are able to push through the varying holes on the strap to create different strap lengths, which I think is great for holiday as you can have it secure across your body in the daytime and maybe shorter and over your shoulder in the evening.

I have this bag in the tan option but there are 3 other colours to choose from, so there’s something for everyone. The compartments in this bag aren’t massive but aren’t tiny, for a holiday it will perfectly fit your security possessions and money without stuffing it all in. For my personal preference I intend to keep my passports/money/room key etc in the larger back compartment and things like sun cream/sunglasses/lip balm in the front compartment.

The only tinie tiny downside to this bag is that there is no smaller inner bag zipped pocket which for me would have been a massive bonus, so instead I personally will just have a small cosmetic bag within.

13 Personal Questions

13 Personal Questions

Okay so I thought I haven’t actually done a post to tell you guys a bit about me. So these are 13 personal more random questions that I’ve answered that will hopefully give you guys a better insight into the person that I am.
Here we go....

1. What do you order at Starbucks? Ooo, either a Light Caramel Frappuccino (with coffee) or a Caramel Macchiato … Both only as treats as I try to stick to only water!

2. One thing in your closet you cannot live without? Jeans. Yes I am a self-confessed Jean Addict, I wear them near enough every time I go out.

3. What’s one thing most people probably don’t know about you? I suffer from Anxiety and PTSD (So your tweets about anxiety help me too!)

4. Name one thing you want to do before you die? To see the AuroraBorealis (Northern Lights) in Norway with someone special because I just think it’s unforgettable and unique experience.
5. What’s one food you cannot live without? Easy, Chocolate.

6. What quote/phrase do you live by? Try everything once, even if it scares you and always always keep positive, you have to go through the bad to see the good.

7. What’s your most listened to song on itunes? I don’t go on itunes….I’m usually mostly in the car or at work during the week so I listen to the radio, and I don’t really listen to music on my phone or on my ipod (yes I still love my ipod shuffle) but I will normally have the music channel on the TV on at home.

8. What kind of style would you define yourself as having? I don’t really have a style per say, I normally opt for comfort and then try to add in more fashionable pieces to make myself look more presentable and up to date. Unless I want to be really dressed up.

9. Favourite number? I don’t actually have one!

10. Two Hobbies? Shopping, obviously and just spending time with my other half (he works shifts so we have to try to do as much together as possible).
11. Two Pet Peeves? People eating with food in their mouth and people that try to talk over someone who’s already talking (happens more often than I would like it too).

12. Guilty Pleasures? Either splurging on something expensive, having an ultimate cheat day or having a takeaway.

I hope you enjoyed this post as I know it’s very different compared to what I normally blog about but I’m all about new experiences and trying to keep things fresh for you my lovely readers.

Gymshark Element Compression Leggings

Gymshark Element Compression Leggings
I love hitting the gym, it’s quite scary how much I enjoy it but I love the good feeling you get afterwards knowing you’re doing your body good. My problem is overheating; I always find my legs overheat in my current leggings because there more like winter leggings, so I thought it’s time to invest and I then I found Gymshark.

These are the Gymshark Element Compression Leggings and they are, putting it simply, amazing. I discovered Gymshark through watching one of my recently found YouTube loves, Nikki Blackketter, now this girl she knows how to work out I watch one of her videos and I instantly put down that donught and want to hit the gym. I’ve seen a lot of hype around Gymshark and in particular these leggings, so I thought if they’re going to do all these wonderful things that they say they will, why not put them to the test.

Not only are these leggings super comfy, they do feel like they offer support to your legs, they keep the sweat off your body and keep you in, they don’t slide down or roll over the stomach area when bending or stretching forward, which is my usual pet hate with leggings. They are made out of a dry fit material composition and have extra quick sweat wicking fabric, so you stay dryer for longer and don't end up drenched in sweat which is bad for your skin.

These are super resilient leggings, I usually get a few scuffs on my leggings because I like to put them through their paces whilst working out but nothing phases these leggings, I think personally due to the quality of the material. These leggings have fibre retention which means that no matter how many times you wash them or if your body shape is constantly changing these leggings will be able to keep up.

Top Tip: Through Nikki Blackketter you can get 10% off your Gymshark order by entering the discount code nikki10 (this will automatically take 10% off your order, which was a bonus for me).

Marks & Spencer Collection Jewelled Gladiator Sandals

Marks & Spencer Collection Jewelled Gladiator Sandals
When I want something good quality that will stand the test of time but is going to be comfy/fashionable I always have a good look through Marks and Spencer. There seems to be a stereotype around Marks and Spencer with many people thinking it’s for the older person, well let me introduce you to these sandals!

These are the Marks and Spencer Collection Jewelled Gladiator Sandals, available in both Tan and Silver, these shoes are bursting with fashion without compromising on comfort. They are a very strappy sandal which have a slightly thicker back going up your ankle with an ankle buckle, the focal point of these have large black/grey toned gems going up the centre of the shoe.

There are so many look-a-likes of these sandals in places like New Look or River Island, which shows how much Marks and Spencer are upping there game, not including the long list of products I want to buy from them. I’ve found these to be super comfy for driving, going to work in, walking around town etc, so far, plus they don’t rub and give you blisters!! I’ve personally dressed them up with smarter trousers or a blouse or a smarter dress, or dressed them down with jeans a t-shirt (my standard wardrobe option) or with a maxi dress, but you still look put together and very glam because of the large gem focal point.

I think these sandals would be perfect for someone who wants a stylish sandal or who is a fashionista but wants something that’s actually a pleasure and comfterable to wear, as many of the high street shoes can be a bit painful. These are my summer staple sandal and I cannot wait to give them a real comfort test when I take them on holiday.

Maybelline Master Sculpt Contouring

Maybelline Master Sculpt Contouring
When I saw this come out from Maybelline I knew I had to try it purely because I haven’t seen a contour colour this brown, so for me this would a test on Maybelline’s ability to be completely unique in my makeup world.

The Maybelline Master Sculpt Contouring is a small compact, with the contour and highlight powder on top and a small compact for the brush and mirror underneath. There are two colour options Light/Medium or Medium/Dark, I personally have the Medium/Dark as I have tanned skin and found that the tester for the Light/Medium was too light for my skin.

First things first though, the negatives; DO NOT use this brush with these powders! I found that I was having more powder around the compact and on my hand than I was on the brush, I find that the bristles are too harsh to take the powder form the compact. I’ve found that using your fingers (or a lighter fluffier brush) to apply this powder onto your face and then using the brush provided to blend it not only easier and less messy but much more effective. I've also found that doesn't last as long as most other drugstore contour powders, on me personally, I found this duo to only last a few hours before having to reapply it as I prefer a stronger contour.

I have to admit that when I saw this product I saw it as a challenge, as most contour powders/creams are more grey under toned to emphasize a natural shadow but this, this is quite revolutionary, this contour powder has a more caramel undertone which I found strange when swatching but when on the cheeks it is gorgeous. It gives a bit of warmth to the face without being as harsh as a bronzer but makes your skin look like it’s sun kissed and you that have the most perfect check bones known to man. It did impress – 1 point to Maybelline.

The highlighter has a more iridescent glow to it with a matt finish; it gives you a more natural glow from within look and just makes you look super healthy. The highlighter is very pigmented so I would suggest taking a little and then building the intensity to your preference but I do think this would work on any skin colour. This highlighter isn’t as shimmery as the TheBalm Mary Lou Manzier for example but does have a slight shimmer to it, with smaller glittery bits in. I think this is a really pretty highlighter and is going to appeal to so many people. Overall I think this compact is such a good product for the money or if you’re just starting out with contouring/highlighting then this is a great starter product.

My Top Bikinis

My Top Bikinis

Bikinis (or swimsuits) are a holiday essential, for anyone, and I have a couple of firm favourites that I like to always make sure I have with me. Some are more basic and some are more ‘out there’ but with a tan you can pull anything off.

This New Look Pink Blured Floral Bikini Print just screams Summer with it being floral and super bright. This bikini has a more unique design to it as it does up on the front, so you put it on almost like a jacket (so over your shoulders/through your arms) and you do it up at the front with the clasp. It has a strappy feature back and has a wide band going all the way round until you reach the front, this bikinis is a push up bikini so will help you gals who are like myself and not blessed in the boob department. I like to wear this bikini with more white cover ups/clothing as I like to see the bright floral print come through and also with dresses/tops which have a high front and low back because of the detailing. I can definitely see this being a pool party bikini for those of you who like the party scene.

Unfortunately I can’t find this exact bikini from River Island but here’s a more understated alternative, also from River Island. I love this bikini, it’s bright (a lot brighter in person) and fun and so different from everything else I own, it’s a real wow piece for me especially when you’re in the sea or chilling at the beach/pool. The halter neck design allows the geometric lines to sit nicely and not bunch up, as do the bottoms which also feature the lines on the front. I also love that this has a string back so you can do it up and can tan away those tan lines as you are able to move it up or down, or if you prefer to be a bit more riskay then whilst your sunbathing face down you can easily untie and retie these.

Unfortunately I can’t find this exact bikini from Topshop as I brought this about 2 years ago but this one is basically the same. I think the scallop edge detailing on this Topshop Bikini is so so so cute! The bikini it’s self is a navy blue with the scallop edge detailing in white, this bikini is also a halter neck with tie back and is actually really comfy to wear. The bikini top sits quite low on the chest but gives you optimum tanning, so do the tie side bikini bottoms which also feature the scallop edge on the front. I really like wearing this bikini on days when I really don’t know what to wear or when I have a super low cut top/dress/cover up on but want something more interesting to show of my bikini. This bikini can also be made to look higher end when worn with layered jewellery and a long shorter sleeved kimono.

The Important Holiday Essentials

The Important Holiday Essentials

As we are officially in Summer holiday season I’ve started collecting bits and pieces for my holiday. So I thought I'd be a bit like your parent here - These are the things that you might not think of packing or doing and it's the stuff that’s usually the most important.

Got You Covered

Making sure you have travel insurance is number of priorities on my holiday to do list, I hope it never happens to anyone but if you had an accident on holiday (in another country) then the costs can add up significantly! I got mine from Debenhams last year and I think it was something like £6 per person, so it really won’t cost the earth just please make sure you have it!

Passport Safety

I keep my passports and boarding passes (yes I still like to print my boarding passes off) in a zip lock or press stud locked plastic wallet (exact) to ensure that if I had maybe a drink my bag, or some make up and it got broken and went everywhere inside my bag then the passports would be protected from being damaged! It’s also super handy to grab everything in one go when checking in or going onto the plane.

Obvious I know, but having a good UVA/UVB protection product is so vital for not only yourself but for the people with you, especially the kiddies! My Holy Grail sun protection is the UltraSun Sun protection, I like to use the sports version as this is water resistant and just glides on (You can apply this once a day but it is advisable to apply it multiple times to ensure your protected) but they do offer a family sized, sensitive and glowing and shimmer versions also.

I would urge anyone who doesn’t own polarised sunglasses to get some! You can actually do more damage to your eyes by not having the correct eye protection!!! It can be more costly but if you take care of them they are a huge investment, money wise and health wise.
I have the Polarised RayBan Aviator mirrored sunglasses and I actually use them most days not just on holiday, driving, walking the dog, and going to the shop or even just at the park.
(I got mine custom made via an opticians but you can purchase similar ones from RayBan)

Spread Yourself

Don’t keep all of your money in one place, spread it everywhere. I usually have mine divided in my socks, suitcase, handbag, toiletry bag, and all my partners stuff. The most clever thing I have seen this year is to take an empty sun protection bottle (fairly medium/large or you can purchase a premade one), clean it all out and either cut of unscrew the bottom pop your phone or keys, or maybe your bank card or money into it and ta-dah you have an instant discreet travel compartment for home or away! I find this works great at the park too when running around after kids.

Foundation Protection
My everyday foundation has SPF15 in it, so for everyday protection against UVA/UVB rays it works a treat. In the summer months I like to try and use a primer with SPF in it or just put some sun protection on before I do my make up to help protect my skin. I use the Bare Minerals SPF15 Foundation and as it’s a mineral foundation as you sweat the particles are too large in the foundation won’t clog your skin because there too large to be absorbed into the pores!

Garnier Skin Naturals Micellar Cleasing Water (Combination & Sensitive Skin)

Garnier Skin Naturals Micellar Cleasing Water (Combination & Sensitive Skin)
To be honest I didn’t really know what to expect from this product apart from the fact it would take my makeup off and I’m neither impressed nor disappointed by this product.

My Mum actually purchased this for me to try, as I had seen it advertised but was hesitant to give it a go due to how sensitive and reactive my skin is. The Garnier Skin Naturals Micellar Cleasing Water(Combination & Sensitive Skin) is a water based cleanser that you use in conjunction with a cotton pad on your face to either, as I use it, remove make up before cleansing or to cleanse the face once you have already removed your makeup.

Unfortunately with this product I’ve found that I cannot use it to do both, I can either use it to remove most of my make up before I use something like L’Occitane Immoretlle Milk Make Up Remover or Emma HardieAmazing Face Natural Lift and Sculpt Moringa Cleansing Balm or I can use it after I have cleansed my skin to ensure all make up has been removed, to save me double cleansing. Unless I use several cotton pads and half a bottle of this stuff I cannot use this one product to take all my makeup off.

The cleansing water it’s self is great, it has a very faint smell so you don’t feel like your smothering yourself with overpowering aromas and leaves the skin feeling very refreshed and prepped ready for any lotions or serums you might be using. I would suggest using clean cotton pads on areas like your eyes or lips to ensure you get all the makeup off without spreading the makeup you’ve already taken off onto your skin.
For my personal weird and wonderful skin type, I can only use this product once every couple of days otherwise it will start to break me out and cause my skin to feel irritated. I’ve found that it works on days where I go to the gym, and when I get in don’t want to start my facial routine until later on that evening. It’s a good alternative to the Simple Kind to Skin Cleansing Wipes for removing make up and letting the skin breath.

I do believe this product’s effectiveness will be based on personal preference and so for me personally I won’t be repurchasing this again.
