My Carry-On Bag

My Carry-On Bag

I am probably the world’s biggest over-packer when it comes to short or long tips away from home and since I’ll be going away for a week for my 21st birthday I will pack every single item I probably don’t need. To make myself cut down and to also show you guys what I take in my carry-on bag, keep on reading. Plus you seem to enjoy these sorts of posts, so let me know if you want to see more!

My carry-on bag is a large tote/shopper bag from H&M in mock brown leather, it was something like £7.99 so I don’t mind if it gets scuffed or dirty because I didn’t spend enormous amounts on it, and usually when walking around airports or on the plane your bag will be brushing against and pushed up against everything and everyone. The bag has an imprinted arrow design on the front to give it a little something extra and 2 large over the shoulder handles, a small zipper pocket on the inside and 2 smaller pockets on the opposite side. So first things first, passport and travel documents always go in first and always get continuously checked throughout the packing process.

My travel purse this year is a small purse from Primark for something like £4 with card holders either side, plus space for notes and a zipped coin area in the middle. I think this is a great size for travelling as it’s big  enough to fit everything in but compact enough not to take up as much space as my large Ted Baker purse.

Toiletry/Make up wise I always like to make sure I have travel wipes with me, suitable for hands, face and body, as you never know when you may need something moist and disinfecting (especially on a plane), for example, last year we went to Greece and went horse riding down the beach, I completely forgot how dirty you get riding, so when I came off the horse my hands where as black as the night sky and these hand wipes came as a god send to not only clean the dirt off my hands but also to make sure no nasty bacteria  from the horse where going to stay on me. I also like to make sure I have a super hydrating lip balm, so I usually take my Burts Bees balm.

Depending on how well I can pack my suitcase I either put my make-up bag into my suitcase or into my carry-on bag, I always put socks or underwear into it to stop everything from flying around and getting damaged (I will do a holiday make up post very soon!) Now, what actually goes on my face to travel in is completely minimal, I’ll either opt for a very sheer layer of the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue or a super light dusting of the Bare Minerals Original Powder Foundation and some MaxFactor Clump Defy mascara. That’s it.

Electrical wise, I like to take my original tine tiny iPod shuffle purely because it takes up no space what so ever and I can listen to music without draining my phone’s battery. I also take my smaller blogging camera, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ8EB-K Compact just so I know it’s safe and I know it won’t get broken. Naturally my phone will be accompanying me, I have the Samsung Galaxy S6 and this little nifty thing is a portable phone charger! You just plug it into the normal charging port in your phone and away you go!! A life saviour if you’re on a plane. (All my wires and adapters and travel plugs go into my suitcase wedged in the middle).

I like to bring a large hoodie/jumper/sweater/ blanket type thing and fluffy socks on the plane, due to my Iron Deficiency Anaemia I can get very cold very fast and find that on a plane I’m freezing, so fluffy socks and another large layer I can use a blanket are my essentials (even though I steal my partners hoodie too). My current favourite hoodie is from H&M and it's this super light pink/muave colour and it's a light knit, so weird but so comfy!

I’ll admit it, I’m a sleeper, I really struggle to stay awake on planes and I have no idea why but I just do, so a neck pillow to stop my neck/back from hurting are a massive bonus and you can get these super cheap too! I got mine from my local pound shop, may not be the greatest of quality but it works and can be squished down into your hand luggage easily.

MaxFactor Crème Puff Blush

MaxFactor Crème Puff Blush

I’ve never been a fan of blusher, mainly because I didn’t understand how it worked on your face and what it added too but after discovering this Maxfactor crème puff blush I amazed at the difference it can create to even the simplest of makeup looks.

The MaxFactor Crème Puff Blush is so incredibly similar to the Hourglass blush! With it’s gorgeous sheen marbled through it really helps to create a soft dewy finish to the skin. I have mine in the colour Seductive Pink (No. 15) and oh my word, this stuff is super super pigmented, a little really does go a long way! When swathing in store this doesn’t look that impressive but when you get home and give it a go it really makes a makeup look. Plus with 6 shades to choose from there is a shade to suit everyone no matter what skin tone.

6 Shades Available:
· Lovely Pink
· Alluring Rose
· Gorgeous Berries
· Seductive Pink
· Lavish Mauve
· Nude Mauve

I have tanned-er skin and am neutral/yellow under toned and this blush on me gives such a glow from within, a simple radiant look which I am super impressed with.  It feels like a crème consistency to touch but comes on the brush and blends as easy as a powder on the skin, which is strange at first but I feel this formulation is what makes it so long lasting and pigmented. I may be last on the band wagon with this product but I am so glad I took the plunge and decided to have a go!

LoveBox Festival 2015 with Revlon UK (Part 2)

LoveBox Festival 2015 with Revlon UK (Part 2)

The LoveBox Festival 2015 is an unforgettable experience and something I think everyone should do, there was a HUGE variety in ages from young children to older adults and the festival really does accommodate everyone. There's no trouble, no fighting and security is extremley tight, entering the festival and during.

There where so many incredible music performances by some of the most incredible artists split across the stages, plus a whole host of DJ’s,  and the atmosphere was so chilled and enjoyable you didn’t feel like you were at a festival, you felt like you were just at a party with friends.  Although Victoria Park is a bit dusty and you will get covered in dust/dirt if you sit down the vivid colours and eccentric stands are what make it so unique and to be honest being covered in dust/dirt are kind of what make it fun.

As Revlon UK had provided me with VIP tickets I was fortunate enough to experience what it was like to be ‘VIP for the day’. As you walk into the exclusive area you are overwhelmed with an exclusive mix of music provided by VIP’s very own DJ set in the centre tent. Surrounded by top London restaurant stalls, glitter stands, bars and massage areas you definitely feel the VIP vibe, with padded benches, wooden seating areas and giant pillows everywhere.

Now I’m not particularly adventurous with food by any means and with people walking around with free samples all day you could have a taste of adventure without having to pay for it. Now I have to give my Mac ‘N’ Cheese a mention because this was quite possibly some of the best Macaroni and Cheese I’ve ever had!! Of course followed up with fresh, soft and crispy Churos with a chocolate dip, yes my diet went straight out of the window eating all of this amazingness.

The highlight of the festival for me was the DJ set by none other than ANNIE MAC!!! For me Annie Mac is one of my top favourite DJ’s, her music collection and DJ-ing is second to none, so to see her live was an absolute once in a lifetime opportunity and a real treat. Alongside all the amazing artists and DJ’s was a whole host of fair rides, photo booths, glitter tents, nail tents and so much more!

Revlon UK where kind enough to not only provide me with VIP tickets but also the Revlon ColourBurst Matte Balm in Unapologetic, I have to admit I was sceptical at first as most matte balms are very drying and bleed once worn over a lengthy period of time but this is something else. I wore this matte balm to LoveBox all day from 9:00am Saturday to around 2:00am-ish Sunday morning and I never worn such a moisturising matte balm before, it really gives your lips a bit plumpness and it doesn’t dry out!!!! Photos do not do this matte balm justice the colour is so incredibly vibrant without looking neon and really is a staple summer colour.

My time at LoveBox 2015 is one to remember, being my first festival I didn’t know what to expect but I am so glad I didn’t as it made my experience all the more sensational. If you’re not into camping or manic festivals then I strongly recommend LoveBox you get the whole experience of a festival without feeling like you have to barge your way through crowds, the security is incredibly thorough entering and throughout!! Your never far from a food, drink, cash point or first aid station and everyone is so incredibly friendly and helpful.
I cannot thank Revlon UK enough for this incredible opportunity nor can words really describe how amazing the day was. I’d also like to thank you beautiful people, without you guys supporting me this opportunity wouldn’t be possible.

My Holiday Make Up

 My Holiday Make Up

My holiday make up is even more simplistic than my every day make up, hard to believe I know. I like to try to take products that are high in SPF and will feel light on the skin but still give me some coverage that I feel happy with. I tend to wear make up more so at the beginning of my holiday when I’m not tanned and am not used to the surroundings but even then it’s minimal.

Couple of days in and I’m happy to wear none or a little in the evening for dinner and/or drinks. I have been loving the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue in Natural for days when I want something that will cover and do good, and with it’s added bonus of SPF30 what’s not to love! I feel that this will be my maximum base make up on holiday and maybe some of the Original Powder Foundation in Medium Beige on days when I just can’t be bothered.

Concealer wise I like to add a tine tiny bit to the under eyes for the evening to brighten myself up a bit and for that I use the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer in Light or the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard. Both of these very much so take on the whole ‘a little goes a long way’ saying and that’s what I intend to stick with for holiday make up. To set my under eyes or just prevent as much shine in my T Zone I like to use the Bare Minerals Translucent powder, in the compact form as this is perfect for travelling.

When on holiday I only really do things like Bronzer/Contouring/Blusher in the evening and at the moment I haven’t found a blusher that I’m like yes that is the one (stay tuned for a possible blush review), and bronzer/contouring I only really do in the evening but every so lightly because I don’t like to be caped in makeup, Bronzer/Contouring/Highlighter I’ll be bringing my Bare Minerals California Bronze Palette. When it comes to highlighter, well what can I say, I go to town in the evening and just sprinkle a bit on in the daytime. I can’t leave my all-time favourite at home, so of course I’ll also be bringing The Balm Mary Loumanizer.

Now eyes are no different what so ever, I always use my holy grail trusted MaxFactor Waterproof Clump Defy Mascara. Hands down THE best drugstore mascara in the entire world, I don’t care what anyone else says this stuff is the bomb for lengthening, a bit of thickening and staying power. My new found love the Soap and Glory Archery Brow Shaper in Brownie, this little two in one has a pen one end to fill in and even out your brows and a pencil the other to shape and keep them in place.

(Depending on how I’m feeling I might use the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray)

LoveBox Festival 2015 with Revlon UK (Part 1)

LoveBox Festival 2015 - with Revlon UK (Part 1)

This year I was lucky enough to gain 2 VIP Tickets to the LoveBox Festival 2015 held in Victoria Park, (East) London curtesy of Revlon UK – MASSIVE thanks to Revlon UK for providing me with this once in a life time opportunity. The festival runs over the course of 2 days and this year it ran from 17th July – 18th July 2015 featuring acts such as Skepta, Ella Eyre, Annie Mac, Jessie Ware etc

Doors opened from mid-day and the festival finished at around 10:30pm, so you really do get your money’s worth. They have everything from flash tattoo stands, photo booths and clothing stands to food, drink and cupcake stands! (That’s just the general admission section!)
The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.” Henri De Toulouse-Lautrec

As I was fortunate enough to be involved in the VIP area, this year they took inspiration from the wanders, adventurers, aristocrats and vagabonds who infiltrated the gypsy neighbourhoods of Paris in the late 1800s and imagine a vision of the future as they might have dreamt it.  There key selling point for me was this “Expect the unexpected amid the fading velvet, glittering mirrors and whirring cogs…” (The unexpected and glitter bit had me hooked).

The experiences of the VIP include:
- An exclusive, extra-special programme of music and entertainment all weekend with a different host each day
- Access to the dedicated and decadent VIP area backstage, right beside the artists and all of the action
- Fast track entry to the Festival
- Luxury toilets
- Cocktail bar, entertainments and experiences

Since it is a festival after all, I took to Pintrest and sought out hair inspiration and came up with probably the most un-imaginative hair idea ever, fishtail braids going from the front of my hair either side and joining at the back with the most bobby pins I've ever used but you guys have seemed to like it on Instagram! This was a simple look but it kept in place all day and kept my hair from being as bad as it could have been.

My outfit for the day was comfort orientated so my trusty Converse where an absolute must, followed my New Look dark wash denim shorts with a few rips in for that real festival feel, a comfy easy New Look cotton black vest top with gold zip detailing at the back, a very old New Look grey jumper to tie around my waist for after the festival and big statement necklace and lips, my necklace is from H&M and my lips where Revlon’s ColourBurst Matte Balm in Unapologetic, quite possibly the most summery and bold lip colour ever!

There where so many incredible stands’ at the festival and such a variety! From food to fashion to beauty!!! One of my personal favourites was a little fashion/jewellery stand tucked away in the corner, this little hidden gem had everything from clothing to jewellery to bags to beach wear! There was also a glitter, gem and flash tattoo stand in VIP!! There was such a variety of stands and artists that everyone could find something they liked.

This polystyrene mannequin was hand made using shattered mirror! And that was the general feel of the festival handmade pieces and food, authentic and just very unique in it's own right. No one person was dressed the same and each stand or area was so unique to anything I have seen before, everyone who organised LoveBox 2015 made sure that it would be a unique and unforgettable experience.

Stay tuned for Part 2 of my LoveBox Festival experience with Revlon UK! #LoveBox15

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate Moss

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate Moss

Rimmel have always been one step ahead of the lipstick game and with their collaboration with Kate Moss this is no exception. The formulas are long lasting and a super creamy consistency and stay hydrating throughout the wear!

I have the Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in No.37.  This lipstick is very red based but with orange undertones it makes for a perfect summer colour or if you’re like me and red makes you look as pale as milk then the orange undertones in this lipstick will really help to balance the harshness (plus it makes your teeth look super white!) It’s also a real close match to MAC Lady Danger (top tip).

The first application comes out not quite sheer but massively pigmented. The second to third application gives a much fuller coverage even without a lip liner you get such clean defined edges with this lipstick, which if required can be emphasized with a lip liner and a bit of concealer tidying up around the edges.

I can wear this lipstick for a good 4 hours before it needing to be touched up, with the exception of eating and/or drinking in-between as it is quite transferable.  My lips feel moisturised throughout and I can reapply this without having to take the old lipstick off and faff around, which is the usual case for reder lipsticks for me.
